The print quality is excellent, even for printing photos. Even adding it to my home network from the printer screen was simple.
I use a Mac and every time I add a printer, Macs make it so easy and it takes about 30 seconds. In a lot of reviews some people complain about connection problems because it is a wireless printer. The printer was super easy to set up right out of the box, about 15 minutes, including removing all of the packaging. I read a lot of reviews before I make this type of purchase because when I spend this kind of money, I want to make sure it's worth it and what kinds of problems and issues people have had.
I needed to add a second printer to my home network andI've had an 8610 now for a few years and it's been problem free so I figured I'd stay with the same line of printers. I've had this printer for about 6 weeks and I really like it a lot. At any rate, I am perfectly happy with the printer but afraid to move it. Not sure if the printer will be broken after the move or what I need to do to ensure that that doesn't happen. That will be a major inconvenience when I move next year as I am planning to do. One thing that I was bothered by was that while I was setting up the printer, I came across an instruction that "once installed and set up the printer should not be moved". By comparison, a Brother laser printer that I have failed to maintain the wifi connection this HP remains stable on my wireless network.
That said, unpacking and setting up the printer was a snap (although I did have issues downloading the MacOS drivers). (I did not pay attention to that spec but was expecting something smaller/lighter from the online pictures). I was a bit put off by the size and weight of the box. When Best Buy had it on sale for 1/3 off, I had to grab one. I read some reviews (trusted sources) of this printer and it got great reviews. This review is from HP - OfficeJet Pro 8720 Wireless All-In-One Instant Ink Ready Printer - White This is true even if you go over your plan's monthly page limit. Once you wrap your head around the fact your paying per page and not for the ink cartridge, you will find the cost per page an excellent value. The best part is the Instant Ink program, especially since I now have more limited print and copy needs. Agree with one review I read that this HP printer functions better than printers costing many times more.
In fact, the HP software is more intuitive than the Brother Control Center 3 software.
It was easy to set-up, including the scanning to a file on my computer. Ended-up selecting the HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 after reading many reviews. Now empty nesters with limited printing needs and dreaded spending hundreds of $ on toner cartridges, new drum unit, and waste container for this older Brother printer. I had an older high-end Brother color multi-function laser printer which got lots of use with children in middle and high school. I have noticed no difference in the printed output from these printers. One major improvement is that the paper travels UP into a tray rather than OUT on to a tray (and sometimes on the floor when I forget to flip up the stop tab on the tray). (I might print 100-400 pages of something at a time and it isn't unusual that one of the four cartridges might run out of ink even though HP says that the Instant Ink cartridges hold more ink than the standard Ink cartridges.) One last comment: The 8720 printer is better designed than the 8620.
I also would like to point out that all three are enrolled in HP's Instant Ink program which is a really convenient way of ensuring that I always have extra ink jet cartridges on hand - that I NEVER have to run out somewhere if a cartridge empties during a print run. It may seem crazy to some to buy all of these printers but I REALLY have problems whenever a machine of any sort fails - because I have work to get done! (Actually, I have four laser printers too!) With these three inkjet printers even if one fails I've still got two left to use.
I print a lot for my business - internal documents plus an information packet that is primarily sold off of my website. I then purchased a Samsung pad, and then another 8720 due to the printer discount available at that time. Because of my absolute delight with the 8620 and the need of another desktop computer, I bought a 8720 as it was also discounted. Actually this is a triple review in that I first bought an 8620 due to a discount on it that came with a desktop computer purchase.
